Shiatsu / Acupressure
Certified Shiatsu Practitioner
Shiatsu / Acupressure
Shiatsu, is a Japanese form of physical therapy and therapeutic
massage, based on traditional Chinese medicine. It combines massage,
gentle physical manipulation, and pressure along channels or rivers of
energy called meridians. Each meridian mirrors a particular organ or
organ function. When the meridians are balanced, the tissues, nerves,
muscles, and bones are responding in
kind. Acupressure is a body therapy which dates back to the third
century
in China. The Chinese located 361 key energetic acu-points along the
meridians.
Each point addresses particular functions. Acupressure and Acupuncture
both
use these points to balance the body's energy -- with Acupressure
employing
fine pressure or magnets. Shiatsu/Acupressure is a blend of massage,
gentle
physical manipulation of the body, and pressure on the acu-points.
Is it right for you?
Shiatsu/Acupressure is gentle, deeply relaxing, soothing, nourishing,
and healing -- to the nerves, muscles, tissues, blood, bones, hormonal
balance, and to the entire being. It can benefit someone with back
pain, numbness, sinus condition, headaches, menstrual disorder, cold,
sciatica, chronic
pain, allergy, immune problem, anxiety, depression. It is for pregnant
mothers
with nausea, elders who have experienced a fall, children with
recurring headaches,
and, in fact, anyone on a Soul journey who has come to understand that
all
memories are stored in the body and that Soul is expressed through the
body.
Shiatsu/Acupressure provides relaxation, nourishment, invigoration, and
overall
balancing and grounding of self. It can significantly complement other
healing
techniques. Shiatsu/Acupressure is for everyone.
Honor Yourself
Making a commitment to honor your body, with care, is making a
commitment to a very personal dialogue as you get to know your self
better. As you
expand your awareness, consciousness, and ability to express self, you
will
experience inner peace, relaxation, and real growth. Physical,
emotional,
mental, and spiritual health are all needed to find balance and
wholeness.
Your body is brilliant, capable of restoring itself to ease and health
when
the flow of the meridians is cleared and balanced. I begin each session
by
listening to your "pulses", to find any inbalances of energy, and then
design
a treatment to correct these imbalances. You will leave feeling
refreshed
and more at ease, with your body, more balanced and grounded, and more
in
tune.
A gift for your body
Call today for an appointment. Each session lasts approximately one
hour. The first appointment takes one-half hour longer, to allow time
for a full intake assessment. You remain fully clothed, and are treated
either on a
custom futon which rests on the floor or on a massage table.

Have a Cup of Tea !
The first bowl moistens my lips and throat;
The second bowl banishes all loneliness;
The third bowl clears my mind of words and
books.
At the fourth cup, I begin to perspire -
Life's troubles evaporate through my pores.
The fifth cup cleanses my entire being.
Six cups and I am in the realm of the Divine.
Seven cups - ah, but I can drink no more;
I can only feel the gentle breeze blowing
through my sleeves,
wafting me away to the Isle of Immortality!
-- Lu Tong, Eighth century Chinese poet, from
In Gratitude For A Gift Of Fresh Tea
